I’m excited to share that “True Blue” is officially out now across streaming platforms!
Being invited to write and record the lead guitar tracks for this piece was an invigorating creative challenge. From the initial rhythm tracks to the final master, my goal was to inject a raw, authentic voice that complements the driving groove and the sharp narrative of the lyrics.
The Vision Behind the Lead Lines
“True Blue” is a track driven by relentless momentum, contrasting modern professional grind with classic rock ethos. When tracking the lead guitar, I wanted the instrument to act as a secondary vocal layer responding to the lyrics, puncturing through the rhythm section and adding emotional weight to key transitions.
A few highlights from the recording process:
Tone & Texture: Focused on a biting, dynamic overdrive that cleans up with pick attack, allowing subtle nuances to shine during vocal pauses and exploding into rich harmonics during the solo sections.
Melodic Phrasing: Blended aggressive pentatonic runs with sustained, emotive bends to capture the tension and determination running through the track's core themes.
Dialogue with the vocals: Rather than overplaying, every fill was designed to serve the song, giving the narrative space while delivering decisive, memorable hooks.
